Rev. Lopeti Taufa
A Christian Service was held in Mala’e Kula, befitting a Christian Monarch. The service was given jointly by Church leaders from different denominations, promoting unity and respect among all the various Churches of Tonga. As the hushed multitudes sat patiently, watching and observing intently, a voice boomed over the PA system. Rev Lopeti Taufa began the “Call to Worship”. People listened intently as the liturgies by various Church leaders were followed by hymns. The sound system was clearly audible and not overpowering.

The first hymn was led out by His Lordship Dr. Soane Lilo Foliaki SM. This special hymn “To e talatalanoa” had been translated from English into Tongan by the late King. This is a truly resplendent song and one of the late King’s favourite hymns.
A moving prayer was said by Reverend Dr. Ahio. The Lord’s Prayer was musically arranged by His Late Majesty King Taufa’ahau Tupou IV. The late King’s interest and influence in the Christian lives of Tongans was evident.
